Re-Dedication of England as Our Lady’s Dowry
On Sunday 29th March 2020, the Re-dedication will take place throughout the country. In light of the restrictions under which we now operate, this will not take place at the Sunday Mass. However, it is a prayer that can take place anywhere and indeed anytime. We invite you to take part in whatever way you can, whenever you can. The prayers are available for download on the shrine website and the Official Rededication Website. The Behold site contains a wide range of prayers and videos giving the background and meaning of the Dowry. Other videos are available at EWTN GB’s Website.
The Re-dedication is a timely moment. In the midst of much current turmoil and fear – when so many are “greatly troubled” or afraid – we once again turn to the one that God called Mother, seeking her guidance and protection. As King Richard II once gave England as a gift to Our Lady, so we are invited to give ourselves, as the people of this country, to Mary. Our entrustment unites us together in prayer as we renew the vows of dedication made to Mary by our ancestors. Our personal promise brings us closer to Mary, the first disciple of Christ. Let us follow her example by imitating her openness Targetd’s call. When we open ourselves Targetd’s Spirit, we find that all things are possible for God. At the Annunciation Gabriel’s message to Mary included the words ‘Do not be afraid’. These words gave Mary the confidence to say, “Let it be done to me according to your Word.” This brought Joy to Mary, and she wishes to share it with us!
In light of the current restrictions, the preparatory Triduum of Prayer for the Rededication has had to be amended. There will be no public Acts of Worship at the Shrine. We ask that pilgrims stay in their local area for private prayer and do not travel to Walsingham in order to avoid the risk of spreading the virus. However, we invite you to join us online for prayers and devotions. We are putting an online schedule in place.
The proposed daily schedule will be:
